This crop is the burning
topic for the farmers of Rajasthan. Sometimes the crop market rises to whooping
Rs 100/kg and next time it will be rock bottom to Rs 15/Kg. garlic growing is
expensive but also found to give high returns to farmers. On an average the
total cost for 1 acre garlic cultivation = Rs 27,500. Farmers can get a yield
between 32-48 quintals from 1 acre land if we consider 40 quintals as an
average yield and market price for quintal of garlic is Rs 5000. Therefore a
farmer can obtain a income of 2 lakhs rupees in one acre of garlic.
Administrative
aspects-
At international level,
every commodity that has to be exported or imported is provided a code under HS
Coding or HSN system. The HS Code for garlic is 0703. In many states commerce
industry or MSME departments are recognized as nodal department for export promotion
also there are also private players who can develop the contact to the buyers
and facilitate international trade. Usually a exporter has to establish a company
and get Importer-Exporter (IEC) number which is provided by Directorate General
of Foreign Trade (DGFT). After availing the authorization a Registration cum
Membership Certificate (RCME) granted by Export Promotion Councils/
FIEO/Commodity Boards/Authorities is obtained. After all this has done you can use
B2B portal like Connect2India helping them to find buyers. A sample is send to
the buyers through registering it by Export Promotion Council. Shipping bill is
generated by the exporter which contains detail like Exporter’s name,
consignee, quantity, packaging details etc. now once product is reached to the
dock, after the verification process is done, the custom officer marks the
shipping bill and hand it over to the Dock appraiser
